About Tigray Community in Chicago

Tigray community in Chicago is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious, and mutual helping organization that works towards strengthening unity of Tegarus in Chicago and preserving the rich culture, history and language of the people of Tigray in general and Tigray community in Chicago in particular.

Tegarus in Chicago established Chicago Tigrian Mutual association in 2013 to come together and work to achieve their common goals. The association grew in size and was named Tigray Community of Illinois in 2019. It's renamed as Tigray community in Chicago in 2023. 

To achieve successful integration of Tegarus in Chicago and the wider American society while preserving our culture and identity and passing down our culture and identity to our kids.
